Hello Jon,
Good writeup for those who dare venturing so far with repairs. A must for some old optics (especially pre-1970s large format).
I've successfully used synthetic optical adhesive from Thorlabs (here: http://www.thorlabs.de/NewGroupPage9.cf … oup_ID=196) for a Leica M3 viewfinder.
UV lamp, adhesive price (kept in the fridge, very short shelf life) and so on added to a real premium for the repair. Well worth it though.

Thanks! The UV cement is good...I am more comfortable with the balsam, however there are always different methods of doing the same repair.
